The House on Mango Street  by Sandra Cisneros

Sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes deeply joyous, The House on Mango Street tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, whose neighborhood is one of harsh realities and harsh beauty. Esperanza doesn't want to belong -- not to her rundown neighborhood, and not to the low expectations the world has for her. Esperanza's story is that of a young Latina coming into her power, and inventing for herself what she will become.

School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan

"We revive old plays because we think they may have something to say to us now.  The School for Scandal is a play obsessed by wit, fashion, celebrity and reputation, and whose central theme is hypocrisy. Does that ring any contemporary bells?" Deborah Warner, Director, Barbican Theatre.

The Tempest by William Shakespeare

Prospero, the duke of Milan and a sorcerer, is cast away on a remote island with his daughter Miranda through the deceptions of Prospero's envious brother Antonio and co-conspirators. Over a decade later, those responsible have been shipwrecked on the island by Prospero's magic. Begrudged creatures and drunken clowns, charmed royals and magical spirits alike, all struggle between the temptation for revenge and greed, and the grace of forgiveness and humility.

Bus Stop by William Inge

In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a cheerful roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and four or five weary travelers are going to have to hole up until morning. Cherie, a nightclub singer, is the passenger with the most to worry about. She is being avidly pursued by a cowboy on the bus, while others are developing relationships of their own as they wait for sunrise.

“…Mr. Inge has put together an uproarious comedy that never strays from the truth.”
